Katherine is coming round on Saturday to help discover our finances so we have a clear picture of how things stand. There'll be spreadsheets for us to take to the CAB and the CCCS.
I went to Tamar today because I'd remembered Jane saying that the benefits helper person came Thursday afternoons. Well, they do, but it's every OTHER Thursday, and this wasn't one of them. Still, I had a good lunch (pork casserole, mashed potatoes and mixed veg, and apricot crumble with custard), and I've made an appointment to see the helper next Thursday at 1.30pm. If I can get enough help to enable me to survive filling in forms and attending interviews enough actually to be able to claim benefits, there may eventually be a couple of hundred quid a month more coming in, which might if we're very lucky be the difference between sinking and staying afloat - that, of course, modulo any debt repayments we now have to organise as a consequence of the recent happenings. And next Thursday is the Tamar Christmas Lunch, so I may be filling in forms with turkey as well as everyone's good thoughts to fortify my resolve. Go me, eh?
Few updates/comments today: not through lack of desire, but that Jus discovered this morning that some miserable inept scriptkiddie had installed a rootkit on our home gateway box, so that's down until Jus sorts it out, and so no home access to the net. He said, last time we spoke, that'll maybe be done tomorrow. Until it is, silence is not as such a bad sign, just bloody irritating and inconvenient. I'm doing this entry at Karen's.
And thank you all again, for all your goodness to us of any and all kinds. With you all behind me I feel like everything's possible again.
