*snoooooooooozy*, and a question for people who know about Amber

Well, I've about written my fingers out to the point where I'm not sure that I'm doing what I want (and, being a minimal reviser, I don't like that feeling), so I shall stop and go to bed and read literary smut about gay monks instead.

The question? Just as with all things in Amber, Thari, their language, is the One True Language, yes? In several places throughout the books, ISTR that Shadowfolk don't seem to have any problem understanding Amberites. Now, is this because Thari being the OTL, it's basically comprehensible by anyone? or is it like the weird language in Invisibles, in that it can reach straight underneath the superstructure of language and work directly on the hearer's mind? or is it simply that Amberites, you know, way cool dudes, of course everyone can understand them, they're like gods, you know?

What it boils down to: is it possible for a Shadow person to learn a piece of Thari without understanding what it means?
