The only downside that I can find with taking zinc supplements during the snuffles-and-coughs season, on which we're evidently now embarking, is that I get a persistent metallic aftertaste from them. Perhaps 'aftertaste' isn't the right word, since it happens regardless of how I swallow the things, and it doesn't happen until about 30-40 minutes after I've taken them. It's a strange 'tinny' kind of taste around the sides and underside of my tongue, towards the back of it.
Surely there aren't tastebuds designed to taste metals?
As to chocolate, I have The Need. I think it's time to put on my shoes and jacket, get out my stick, and sally forth in pursuit of cacao-containing comestibles.
