The new pain patches seem to work well. They're harder to put on (the pouch is metallised plastic, rather than paper, which makes it harder to tear open, and the backing film is in two parts — like on adhesive plasters — rather than one), but the adhesive seems both to work better and to be less irritating to my skin).
I had to take rather too much morphine on Wednesday and have been suffering the inevitable consequences thereof.
I finally sent griffenThe Road Taken. Only a year late! since it was intended for his last year's birthday, but he was bowled over by it anyway. I've assigned the copyright to him, since the story was always intended as a gift, so he can do what he pleases with it. I did ask if I might share it with all of you, since you've watched me sweat over it all this time and several of you were kind enough to beta for me, and he's quite happy with that, so I'll be putting it up soon. If you'd like to read it, that is.
As to writing: I got to a point with His Bright Designs where, even though I knew that some stuff had to happen in a particular way, I couldn't for the life of me work out why it would have happened like that. It isn't often that I get the Blinding Flash of Inspiration (I'm not that kind of writer) but this time my Muse delivered a hefty kick to the head while I was lying down and feeling miserable with the drugs, and I suddenly realised what it was that I hadn't understood before. Not only did it make that one component make sense, but everything else fell into place a lot better. However, it does mean that it'll involve me in finding out about things that I don't know much about. But still, yay!
