Most of you'll know that I've been waiting for a spinal rhizolysis operation for a couple of years or so: those of you who don't, see here; the bit about frying the nerve roots.
So, last night, just as we were about to go out to see Karen and the kids, Richard's secretary phoned me and said, "Sorry about the short notice, but about your rhizolysis; could you come in next Friday?"
Seems as though they've had a cancellation (or someone on the waiting list died of boredom :)) and I've got lucky.
Not quite as simple as that, actually; she'll have to check on Monday that the slot really exists, and then phone me to let me know. If all's well, I then have to go to DSU on Thursday for a pre-op appointment, bloods as necessary, and all that; then, apparently, I have to call the hospital and check that they'll actually have a bed for me on Friday, otherwise I'll end up doing my post-op recovery on a trolley in a corridor :) And if that's all good, I'll be in Walsgrave on Friday, and most likely home on Saturday. Unfortunately this means that I'll most likely miss youngatheart and giantpanda's blessing ceremony on Saturday, but that's the way things have to be.
So that's my mother, my father and (probably) me all in hospital inside a month; I think I'd better call my sister tomorrow and warn her that she's probably next on the list :)
As to the dentist: it was all perfectly fine, just a nerve and a cavity that needed sorting out. I've had the root filled and a temporary filling put in; I get the proper filling on the 30th. All very easy and not remotely unpleasant.
Bedtime now. G'night!
