I have seen a report that Mr A T Smail, previously the Agent, retired in or before 2000.
An excellent man, Mr Smail. So many people in the 'zine world in the 1980s complained at what they saw as a bureaucratic interference (the requirement to deposit copies of published material with the Copyright Libraries) that I felt impelled to find out what all the fuss was about. I interviewed him at his office and published the interview in my long-gone 'zine Soft Construction. He explained how the Copyright Acquisition process worked, both in theory and in practice, and, busy as he must have been, treated me with great courtesy.
I hope that his retirement is proving enjoyable, and that he has many years in which to enjoy it.
ETA: The current Agent is Ms C M Allardice.
