And so things...

progress, to some degree. I haven't achieved much recently, but I can't see any good's going to come of fretting about it, so I remain calm.

My a_hill_of_beans sub has been rewritten again, and it still isn't right. This is not like me: I usually write once-through, check for misprints and infelicities, and then it's done. One rewrite, perhaps; but five? I'm beginning to think that perhaps I need to write something else before Part 3 happens. I had an idea for something last night, but I've since realised that it's not an AHoB thing. I may write it as a standalone later, but I'll need to do some research about prolactin and שחיטה (that's shechita for those of you whose browsers don't do Hebrew) before that.

I discovered tonight that I'm the kind of friend whom one can 'phone and ask "Could you bring an onion with you when you come round tonight?" The onion, you see, went in the Jerusalem artichoke and carrot soup that mrph made for the Amber group. The soup was very good, and I think I managed to explain to the assembled why Jerusalem artichokes aren't much like real artichokes and have nothing to do with Jerusalem either. mister_jack also regaled us with stories of his grandfather's exploits with gelignite, some of which had gone sweaty.

Speaking of friends, I had yet another "small world" experience on Saturday. I met jambon_gris's friend Emma (WINOLJ) for the second time, and the discussion got around to Leicester (as it does). I said that I really ought to go to Leicester sometime soon, as I have friends there, and mentioned skibbley and E.; whereupon Emma boinged and said "Oh, I know them! I nearly shared a house with them." Small world, small world...
