That's good soup, that is.

You know, I think people really should marry me just for my soup. There are far worse foundations for a lifetime of contentment than really good soup.

This one was just a throw-together for clearing out the vegetable drawers. Some wilted peppers, a handful or two of mange tout that were going limp, a spare bunch of radishes with their greens, two weary potatoes, some carrots that had left their salad days (*groan*) behind, two unused ears of baby (well, toddler) corn, three perfectly dull onions, a couple of cloves of garlic. Two beef stock cubes, a squirt of Heinz tomato ketchup (I know, but I'd run out of tinned tomatoes), some paprika, a dessert spoon of balsamic vinegar, and plenty of water. Simmer until soft then blend to a purée. Adjust seasoning. Done.

Now all I need is someone cold and tired and hungry to eat it and tell me what a wonderful guy I am.
