Yesterday I got drenched walking to and from my doctor's surgery. Now that the nice, nearby one has closed, I have to go further, and even though the bus will take me part-way, there's still some walk. It was pelting down, so I got wet both going there and coming back; and all to get a repeat prescription. Ridiculous. I can't see that it would have taken the receptionist any longer to have hit the 'generate repeat prescription' button on the practice IT system if I'd 'phoned than when I turned up in person. But no, repeat prescriptions have to be requested either in person or by post – and I can't see that opening a letter's so much quicker than taking a call. Jus says that apparently it's to avoid mistakes, but why should telephone calls be so much less reliable? Hmph.
And tonight it's really cold.
The walk yesterday, though wet, wasn't completely unenjoyable. It was quite fun to see which hedgerow plants were in flower. It's good living where we do; one bus trip gets me into town, but it takes only a short walk and I'm out in the fields.
The Amber game on Monday was a splendid end to the current arc. None of the player characters are dead (except perhaps Ramius, but who knows what's happened to him?) though some of us have had to make arrangements to lie low for what may be quite some time. It's good to see Dworkin back on his feet and much more sane, though why he wants to be King of Amber is beyond me. Perhaps it's simply that it needs a strong and capable hand. And Joseph is really looking forward to taking up his new position as Ambassador to the Courts of Chaos. It's going to take a certain amount of self-discipline on his part not to smirk unbearably during his official duties. Big Hurrahs to
