Over lunch in Browns today, I asked lostdreamer666 what he'd got planned for the rest of today. Among the things he was considering was a picnic. It struck me that we haven't had a picnic in the Memorial Park for simply ages.
So. I know a lot of Covoid people won't be free next Saturday because of a birthday party, but how about next Sunday afternoon, the 2nd of July? I gather the lovely dmh will be around. So far Kev, Jus, Vicky, Jon H and I have made interested noises, and quite likely my friends giantpanda, youngatheart and their three littles will be coming (and maybe even their two bigs, if we can persuade them to drag themselves out of bed).
How about the rest of you? There's far too many of you in the West Midlandsy area whom I don't see half often enough, and given that the Memorial Park is about five minutes' walk from the train station I'm going to look very sternly at the Birminghamish folk if they don't turn up without a good excuse. That means you, redandfiery, bethanthepurple, bunnyowen, aardvarkoffnord, patgod, and any of the rest of you that somehow haven't sprunge to mind.
Now obviously this is a completely unplanned thing so far, and it may be that for some reason next Sunday is a ludicrously silly day to have a picnic on, or whatever, so tell me if it is and we can think about changing it if needed. But the weather's looking good at the moment, and it'll be fun, honest.
If by any chance people don't know where the Memorial Park is: look here. See down in the bottom left hand corner it says "War Memorial Park"? that's it. The arrow is pointing to the railway station. How about meeting up by the gates (that's the entrance at the northernmost vertex of the park) at, say, 1.30pm?
