Serious nostalgia attack

I'm just having Mad Fun installing Kermit on my simulated DECsystem-10. When I went to look for the sources, I found that they were linked from this page, which reminded me that Kermit was originally written for the PDP-10, as were Emacs, Ispell, MACSYMA and lots of other really Good Things. And ΤΕΧ, even.

I'm really glad that I was born early enough to remember when computers weren't in every kid's bedroom. It feels like there was something about that time, and those machines, that just isn't there any more. I'm not at all saying that things were better then, and we all ought to go back to TECO and ASR-33s and card punches; I'm simply glad that I've lived to see those times and now.

I wonder how things will be in another 30 years or so. I hope I'll still be around to enjoy those times too.
